Kam Lake Expansion in the Works
Some good news for the Yellowknife small business community yesterday at City Hall. City Council was presented with a plan for bringing new land to market in Kam Lake.
Some key points:
- This will not be a quick process, prospective purchasers should not expect to see land on the market this calendar year;
- It is not yet known what the potential commercial uses for the land will be, although it seems to me like the leading candidates are more light industrial (like the rest of Kam Lake) and potentially agriculture;
- Public consultation will get underway this spring and will be led by a consultant;
- Not all of the area identified in the attached map will be developed. Decisions will have to be made about buffers between residential and commercial lands, trails, etc.
